Rinsing them off really good is usually all that is needed. Anything left over the conditioner should take care of. I usually double dose the conditioner just to be safe. But like mike said it does evaporate over night.

Sometimes shortcuts do cause more work. I think we all are guilty of doing that a few times. Patience is the hardest thing to learn sometimes.

went to the fish hub today and talked with peiter, he told me a uv sterilzer with some tetracycline should help drastically. I found a 5th infected fish in my secondary tank and have now moved everybody there and treating the whole group. I am hoping this should help with everything else. additionally the uv should kill off any residual parasites so I should be able to keep this sand. However once this it is killed off I may need to then clean that tank. Oh boy oh boy!

The UV filter will help but I have been told that the parasites will be in the substrate, I would never second guess Pieter either. I did mention earlier you need to clean any buckets, nets, heaters, filters that has been used or made contact with the infected tanks water or fish in the last 6 months. That includes airlines, airstones, decor and absolutely everything. One cyst can start this all over again. That is why I throw away the substrate. I use Pool filter sand and at $8 per 50#'s it is not worth cleaning it. If you dump it outside pour colorox over it for safety measures.

I have cleaned all decor, rocks, vacuums, hoses, and the hood for the first tank, threw away the sand, and bleached the tank. I did not clean the nets I misunderstood you and was planning to throw away my nets, buckets, airlines and stones. I will my buckets and nets tonight. I will however still get new airlines and stones. Also my wife picked up a new bucket that I have been using for only putting clean water in ever since.

You can soak your nets and such in bleach water overnight. That is how I do it and I usually do it a few times a year just to be safe. If I have any disease in one tank I automatically do this cleaning to quarentine it to just that tank. It is always the simplest things that cause the biggest troubles.

Parasites reproduce inside their host only. They will deposit a cyst that is poassed thru the fish and incubates in the substrate til it becomes free swimming to find a new host. During this time it can survive on any invertabrate but can not reproduce until it finds a host fish. The UV filter will only kill what goes thru it and all the rest will not be harmed by it. They are best for algea blooms and I have had great luck with Ich using one too. But they are limited to what goes thru them to do any benefit. Do not get me wrong I love mine and would never go without one. You will love having one.

i got the jbj submariner knockoff brand from ebay.. this company makes them in china and then companies here buy them and put their name on them.. all of this particular model are exactly the same just different length cords and different names on them... the jbj submariner is $90 or so the cheapeast place ive found it.. its usually more..

for $40 the fish hub has the EXACT same piece of equipment but aqua top "makes" it.,. i love this thing.. it pushs alot of of water... ive had no luck with it stopping ich ive gotten ich a few times in the tank its in.. but thats nothing some heat and quick cure or paragaurd cant kill

http://www.thefishhub.com/Store/Product ... izing_pump

the bulbs are relatively cheap too.. they are recommended to be changed every 6 months i think but ive been running mine for way longer than that and its still running strong.. my friend that turned me onto these told me that the o rings go bad periodically but if that happens sometimes the copany wil send you a new one.. i bought an o-ring kit for $14 or maybe it was $7 dont remember.. with all different size o-rings and have a backup unit just in case mine breaks

Sunday was the last day of dosing with Tetracycline. My water turned redish brown, it looks similar to iodine or rootbeer with light shining through. I put my carbon back in and did a 25% water change. Does anyone know how long my water will remain tinted or should I do a massive water change? I'm thinking of letting my filters cycle it out since the package doesn't say anything about a larger water change. However, I would hate to find out my fish had an overdose. My phone is dead but I will post some pictures later today. The fish seem to be doing alright although, the water color has an effect on the shadows and I cant really tell if their heads have improved or not.
